EARLY VOTING: APRIL 20 - 28

ELECTION DAY: MAY 2

The bond includes $4 million to replace half of Decatur ISD’s fleet over the next 5 years. If the bond is approved by voters, Decatur ISD will develop a replacement schedule so that just some buses are replaced each year. A replacement plan will help the district to manage these assets in the future over time.

36 of Decatur ISD’s buses are from 2017 or older, with most nearing their 10–12-year lifespan. The district recently purchased 4 new buses.

The Texas Legislature recently updated an existing law to require that, “a bus operated by or contracted for use by a school district for the transportation of schoolchildren shall be equipped with a three-point seat belt for each passenger, including the operator.” (SB 546, 2025, 89th Legislative Session)
